SMB Mounting File Servers via Windows

In order to access your Linux home directory you will need to mount it as a lettered drive in Windows. This is a very straightforward procedure. Begin by clicking the Start Menu, and selecting My Computer.


Next, Select the Tools Menu, and then Map Network Drive..., as shown below.

In the next Window, select a drive letter and folder, as shown below. For the folder you will enter the following:


\\groundhog.phys.washington.edu\users\PhysID


Where PhysID is your physics username. You can use any drive letter you wish as long as the letter isn't already in use (generally, anything after G should be fine). Check the Reconnect at logon box unless you want to do this every time you log in.
